The Difference between Slave Play and School Play

...by MissPrim, renowned Headmistress of the Muir Academy. Miss Prim explains the features that make school scenes uniquely different from Master/slave or Dom/sub play.
Let me first say that although I am predominantly known as the Headmistress of the Muir Academy, the original role-play school. I have in my time explored most aspects of the BDSM scene and enjoyed them.

For convenience in this article I will refer to School role-play people as 'Schoolies' and others as 'Slaves'.

First let me say that neither scene is exclusive and some people can and do swap over from time to time.

1. A Slave will accept practically any form of punishment or humiliation thrust upon them by their Dom. A schoolie would not. They would be taken out of role if they were for instance subject to being tied up, or handcuffed. It is something that would not have happened at real school so therefore does not fit into their fantasy.

2. They would not accept being beaten with most non-school implements, i.e. Whips, crops and fancy-shaped paddles etc.

3. Likewise any form of humiliation would have to be in a form that was indicative of school. For instance being made to stand in the corner, but not naked as a slave might enjoy. Being made to pick up litter in the playground, not being made to scrub floors like a slave. Being scolded as a pupil might but not sworn at and degraded as a slave might.

3. Clothing is very important for both role-play groups, however they have very different requirements.

School uniform of some description is almost vital for a schoolie. It needs to be a genuine as possible to help build up the mental role.

The slave, on the on other hand, needs very little in the way of apparel to set his mental scene. However their dress can be just as elaborate, rubber or leather outfits, prison uniform, sacking or as simple as total nudity with or without a slave collar.

The dress code does not just apply to what they are wearing but also to what their Dom is wearing. A schoolie would lose confidence in the role if their teacher turned up in a basque and stocking and very little else, while a slave would delight in this but not get such a buzz from a smartly suited teacher type.

5. Surroundings are also an important difference. A schoolie would not be happy in a dark dungeon surrounded with implements of pain and sexual nature. Likewise a slave would probably be bored and uninterested in a schoolroom surrounded by books, blackboards and canes. Schoolies are rarely happy in a nightclub, unless it has been designated a school theme night. While in their role as 'pupils' they can feel threatened by all the rubber and leather clad mistress and Masters around.

6. One of the most important differences is a mental one. Slave are always submissive, schoolies are not always submissive. A slave actively looks for total domination, sometime both mentally and physically. They do not question or resist in general the things done to them by their Doms. They do not want to have a say in their function or play. On the other hand a schoolie may have these tendencies, but it more usual that they have a spirit of rebellion ticking away somewhere inside. They like to push the 'boundaries'. They like to see how much they can get away with before the teacher puts them back in their place. Ultimately of course they want to be controlled just like a slave does.

The role-play groups do share some similarities.

They can both play their role discreetly in public. A slave may wear a collar, sometimes even with a chain attached, thereby still being kept under the control of their Dom. They can be made to go out in public without certain items of underclothes to help remind them who is still in control. In the same way a schoolie can go out wearing part, or all if they are brave enough, of their uniform. They too then can play the pupil and teacher role out in the real world. They can also go on school type trips in casual clothes just like real school children do these days. Both slaves and schoolies have the same respect for their Doms, even if the schoolies like to resist or rebel against theirs from time to time.

I hope this has given you a little insight into the differences between the two different groups of the ever-widening BDSM scene.
